Day 1 of 30
To get started building this blog I am going to do 30 days of wellness tips, tricks, swaps, and recipes! In the beginning of starting a wellness journey-or any journey for that matter- everything seems so overwhelming. Thats okay! It gets better.
You don’t have to start all at once on any journey. A total overhaul of your life might not be as sustainable if you make the decision to do it all at once. I have heard about all things bad when it comes to food and our daily lives for so long but I didnt know where to even begin so I just didn’t.
That isn’t the answer either. Ignoring the fact that there is so much change I would like to make in my family’s life didn’t help anyone. I scoured all the healthy swap boards and they all repeated the same thing which is todays tip!
#1 When you run out of something, buy the healthier swap.
It really is that easy to get started. One of my first buys was healthier laundry detergent. I ran out of my regular pods wrapped in plastic that would heat up and dissolve over my clothes and was full of homone disrupting fragrances and ingredients. I do miss the smell of laundry detergent but now my laundry just smells clean, for real, not just masked by fragrance.
Swaps aren’t always easy and sometimes it takes a few tries to figure out what works for your family!
How do you find healthier swaps?
Okay so you know you dont want melty plastic on your clothes, now what? We live in such a cool time that the internet is your friend! Simply searching “Non-toxic laundry detergent” will give you an idea. We want to avoid things like fragrance, optical brighteners, chlorine bleach, phosphates, Phthalates, formaldehyde, sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), 1,4-Dioxane, ammonium compounds, and Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEs)
I personally love the Tru Earth Fragrance Free Laundry Sheets.
I have two sons and a husband who works hard and gets dirty. A laundry detergent that gets the job done is important to me!

Beware of greenwashing though. Keep in mind a company that makes something non toxic or less toxic may not make all things non-toxic. This laundry detergent isn’t completely non toxic. Remember we’re not striving for perfect here. I really don’t think there is such a thing. Just simply better.
As always it is extremely important to do your own research, that’s why you’re here right? Thanks for spending some time with me today. Keep making choices that nourish your body and soul—one small step at a time.
I’m glad you’re here,
Ashlee
